SARA SKINNER
Founder
Facilitator / Cross-Cultural Educator / Interactive Trainer / Consultant
LET'S TALK
I love the “magic” that happens when I’m facilitating a workshop and people are learning, developing skills, and figuring out how to make their lives - and their community - better. I founded Sara Skinner Associates to bring this facilitation magic to diverse groups.
MY APPROACH
"Bringing people together to collaborate, learn new skills, and create community change.”
What I do:
I create workshops, meetings and other gatherings that are transformative for the people involved and for the communities where they live, work, and play. As a skilled connector, I make sure the right people are in the room and then help them learn from each other, gain new skills, envision the changes they want to see, and work together to make it happen. Often, I recruit co-facilitators with diverse voices to share their stories and insights. My facilitation and training sessions are creative, lively and interactive, so participants can engage fully and connect with new ideas and with each other. My methods are based on my educational philosophy, which is that we learn better together, and we are able to do more together. Depending on the setting, I use games, music, art, poetry, role plays, simulations or other techniques.

MY BACKGROUND

I have over 25 years experience as a non-profit leader and consultant, including expertise in:
-
Program design, implementation and evaluation
-
Non-profit management
-
Culturally responsive, interactive learning design
-
Community Health Worker programs
-
Group facilitation in Spanish, Portuguese and English
My Masters degree is in public health, with a focus on culturally appropriate, community-based programs. I am certified in “Equity and Cultural Awareness in Education.” I also bring extensive cross-cultural experience from my work with farmworkers, refugees, and other immigrants, and from my years living in Spain and Brazil.
After living in six states within the US, my husband Javier and I moved back to Boise, Idaho (my home town) in August 2021. With our two children, we enjoy skiing, dancing, and lively family dinners that often include three languages around the table.
OUR TEAM
I collaborate with a large team of content experts: researchers, health providers, counselors, immigrants, non-profit managers, people with a refugee background, people with lived experience, and others. I draw upon their specialty expertise to bring you a diversity of viewpoints and comprehensive consultation and training.
