• Refugee & Immigrant 101 – How do refugees & immigrants arrive in the US? What is it like to be forced to leave your homeland?
• Trauma – How does trauma interfere with learning? How can we respond to students who are triggered? Which teaching methods foster resiliency?
• Multilingual Learners -- How does it feel to enter a classroom in a strange language, in a strange land? How can educators make learning accessible for new American students?
• Challenging Behavior – What might be the roots of this for immigrant students? And what can we do about it?
• Cross-Cultural Kids – How do grief and identity play out for these students, and how can we be supportive?
• Family Engagement – What do immigrant parents expect from schools? Which family engagement strategies are most effective? And what are some concrete techniques for communicating with families?
